Downs Banks (National Trust)

Washdale Lane, Oulton Heath, Near Stone, ST15 8UU (nearest available) OS Grid Ref: 258:SJ900365

Downs Banks Brook is a beautiful babbling stream that runs the length of Downs Banks. Keep your eyes open and you may see the fantastic blue flash of a kingfisher.

There are far-reaching views from the highest point on the Downs. A rock pillar stands here and shows you what landmarks can be seen in the distance on a clear day. The Long Mynd (National Trust), Mopw Cop Castle (National Trust,) the Wrekin (a prominent hill formed from an extinct volcano) and the Clee Hills are just some of the landmarks to look out for.

From spring to autumn much of Downs Banks is grazed by a small herd of friendly cattle; please look out for these if your dog might spook them - or be spooked by them.

Dogs - always welcome at Downs Banks. Please help keep the area special by clearing up after your dog (there are no disposal facilities on-site so go prepared - a Dicky Bag might be helpful).
