Park in Boughton Village Hall car park off Bull Lane (if entering the village from the Faversham end Bull Lane is on the left off The Street - if entering from Canterbury end pass through most of village and turn right into Bull Lane).
Leave the car park via a metalled footpath leading to the school (in the top right hand corner of the car park when standing with your back to the Village Hall). Follow the path past the school and public conveniences to reach The Street (main road through village). Cross the road and turn left going slightly uphill to begin with in the direction of Canterbury - or start and finish at The Queens Head (a dog friendly pub where you can eat with your dog). Cross Arthur Kennedy Close and continue ahead. Cross Colonel's Lane and continue ahead on the pavement. The path rises a little then descends through an unmade section in front of houses at the top of the bank. Turn right onto a footpath (opposite Bounds Lane on the opposite side of The Street).
Continue ahead on the path to reach an open green area among houses. Cross road and continue more-or-less ahead onto footpath between houses and nursery. Follow path to road then turn right for a short distance to reach Horselees Road. Cross road to join footpath ahead. Follow path as it bears left between houses on left and A2 on right until it reaches road (Dunkirk Road North).
Turn right to climb steps leading to underpass. Pass under A2 then descend steps. Turn left onto footpath before reaching bottom of steps. Follow path to its end keeping A2 on left. The path bears right just before reaching a bridge across the A2, to join the road near its south end (by entrance to Forester's Lodge Farm). Turn left and cross the A2 (keep to the right where there is no footpath as very little traffic comes south over the bridge).
At road T junction turn right (towards Canterbury and away from Dunkirk and Boughton) using footpath on left hand side of road. Turn left into the wood a few hundred yards along the road using the wide footpath protected by a barrier. Where the footpath splits take the right hand fork (more major path). Continue ahead to reach a footpath t junction. Turn right then immediately right again onto a wider track. Continue ahead and a field soon appears on the right. Bossenden Farmhouse can soon be seen across the field through the tree-line. This area - through to the end of the next field - is the site of The Battle of Bossenden Wood (see also Blean Woods & Denstroude Lane walks). Continue ahead passing junction with track on left hand side (where two fields join on right).
As track bears right take left hand fork (more-or-less ahead) on path into wood passing a barrier as you do so. Continue ahead through wood to reach another broad track. Turn left and follow track to a major track T junction. Turn left and follow the track as it bears right and starts to descend (ignore path on right). Shortly after path starts to descend pass track joining from left. After another 50 to 100 yards turn left onto footpath passing a barrier by a large oak as you do so.
Continue ahead on path until it is crossed by a track. Continue ahead quickly crossing a footbridge. You soon reach a stile which the official path crosses. There is room to pass by the right hand side of the stile. Whichever route you take turn left along the orchard boundary and follow it to the road.
Cross the road into the lane opposite (with Bradbourne Cottages on your right). Continue ahead downhill until you reach a road T junction opposite a pub. Turn left and follow the road for 100 yards or so to reach a footpath on the left. Turn left and follow the footpath uphill through woods to reach Holly Hill Farm. Continue ahead on the farm's drive until you reach another drive. Turn sharp right onto the second drive (before you reach the road). Continue ahead on the drive past a cottage then follow the track down through the woods until it reaches a metalled road (Crockham Road) almost opposite a fire beacon. Turn left on the road then right at a road junction. Follow the road to Hernhill. Turn diagonally left across the green, with the Church on your left, to find a footpath in the opposite corner across the lane. Cross the lane and join the footpath via a gate in the edge of a garden. Follow the path down through an orchard to reach the drive to houses via another gate.
Turn left onto the lane then right onto the footpath 50 yards up the road (a drive to the rear entrance of Mount Ephraim House). Follow the drive slightly uphill to reach the entrance to Mount Ephraim Gardens (if you have time to visit, the gardens are dog friendly - see directory entry and Dogpeople Says via logo). Continue ahead to reach a metalled lane (Staplestreet Road) via Mount Ephraim's front entrance.
Turn right and follow the footpath to reach a pub on the left. Follow the footpath by the right hand side of the pub past 'The Bothy' then downhill at first. The path soon emerges onto the drive to the Village Hall car park. Continue ahead to reach the parking and the end of the walk (if you travelled by public transport you will need to use the school footpath to reach The Street - see start of instructions).
