A dog friendly walk from DogPeople
Fisherground circular via Gill Force and Hardknott Fort (easy)
- Map - Outdoor Leisure 6 - The English Lakes South-western area
- Distance - 9.4 miles (1280 feet total ascents)
- Stiles - None
- Date walked - 28 June 2012.
Lottie walked this route on 28 June 2012. We climbed the path to the waterfall at Gill Force (despite pouring rain) and, after the fort, walked back via the road (because of the rain) but, obviously you could retrace the outward river bank route.
The route starts at Fisherground Lodgeswhere we were staying (NY1524 0011). If not staying an alternative is to start from The King George IV (parking for patrons) in Eskdale Green and walk along the road towards Boot and join the on the right hand side opposite the entrance to Fisherground.
Our route left Fisherground's drive, then across the road into a field, then across the river via pedestrian bridge, then left along the river bank all the way to Jubilee Bridge, then up the road to Hardknott Fort, then back to Fisherground via the road.
If you'd like to receive a GPX planning tool version of our route please e mail us and request Fisherground and Hardknott. Please be aware this does not include our diversion to see the falls (but you should find this easily if you choose to do the same).
