Start from Braithwaite up the Whinlatter Pass road. Turn left into unofficial parking space (by road sign to official parking) on left hand side of road. Take the footpath up steps at the right hand side of parking area signed to Grisedale. Follow the path up steps then steadily uphill before crossing a stile with a very generous dog paddle. Follow clear path all the way to Grisedale Pike then on to Hopegill Head. Then left (south) down to cross paths then left (east) – just above the stream on your right - and follow the path all the way down passed the mine workings. When on the made track after the mine look for footpath sign diagonally right and follow path down to reach road on the edge of Braithwaite.
