Lottie and Murphy stayed for a week in May 2014. Carrie and Paul, the owners, are experienced dog owners and dog friendly tourists. They have used their knowledge and awareness to provide a great experience for dog owners and their canine companions (and justifiably have our Top Dog award). We were well prepared but still noticed, among other things, a stack of dog towels, dog bowls, holiday tags, dog water bottle/bowls to take out on walks, a throw for the sofa and a welcoming treat of tuna flavoured biscuits. A lean-to by the side of the cottage was perfect for washing and drying the dogs, airing boots and letting the waterproofs drip (we were lucky with the weather but this would be a real bonus when it is wet). The dogs loved exploring the enclosed and attractive garden and found both shady and sunny places to rest. The upside down cottage was good for a couple of humans too, providing comfortable and cosy character accommodation with good views from the living room. We enjoyed five circular walks from the cottage door using bridleways, footpaths and quiet roads including sections of the Monsal Trail, the Limestone Way and the Pennine Bridleway. Tideswell is a good base if you enjoy walking and prefer not to use your car (secure off road parking here). The village has a good choice of dog friendly places to eat and drink if you don’t want to cook. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, one of the most dog friendly places we have stayed.
