This is a Woodland Trust wood. There is a good car park at grid reference TQ 9005 4479 on a minor road between Smarden Bell and Pluckley. A clear track leaves the car park via a kissing gate. Just beyond the gate there's an information board giving details of the wood including a little of its history and two way marked routes. We walked the longer (red) route, about 2 miles. The way was easy to follow with numbered marker posts. It was a little muddy in places. The woods show sign of their earlier management with clearly previously coppiced areas and some very tall 'skinny' oaks. There were several blankets of Wood Anemones when we walked and Bluebells were just coming through.
There were a number of other tracks and paths not on the way marked routes so plenty of variety is available. A public footpath cuts through the wood near its southern end.
