We parked in Challock Village Hall car park in Blind Lane (off the A251 just South East of its junction with the A252 grid reference TR 0108 5052). TURN LEFT to reach cross roads. TURN LEFT into Church Lane signposted towards the church. Follow the lane past a school then steadily downhill for half a mile or so to pass Challock Manor on your left and farm buildings on your right. CONTINUE AHEAD as a lane turns left towards the church - following a footpath indicator to a metal gate (unless you wish to take the short detour to see the church).
Pass through a metal kissing gate to the right of the main gate to reach a tracks junction. CONTINUE MORE OR LESS AHEAD (via a left then right dog-leg). The track passes a cattle grid but there's no longer a fence line. Follow the track past a drive on the right hand side towards an old reservoir (you'll see the remains if you look back in a short while). CONTINUE AHEAD as a track leaves diagonally left in front of a patch of 4 or 5 large trees (a large pile of road stones were here when we walked).
As the track bears hard right CONTINUE AHEAD on a footpath (marked with finger post marker FP 93) towards the right hand side of Eastwell Manor. Cross field to reach a stile. Cross stile (Hamish had no difficulty passing under the stile on its righ hand side). TURN RIGHT onto metalled drive towards a water tower. Immediately after the tower TURN RIGHT along another metalled drive signposted to Eastwell Park Home Farm (now on the North Downs Way - west bound).
CONTINUE AHEAD to pass Eastwell Lake a short distance away on your left hand side. As the track bears right towards a house and the farm (also left to a church) CONTINUE AHEAD, still on the North Downs Way as indicated by a finger post (AE 213). Cross a field towards a patch of wood. Keep to a path in front of the woods when you get there towards a stile beside a metal gate. Go through the gate then (gate wired up in May 07), after 50 metres or so, TURN RIGHT through the wood as indicated by finger post (still North Downs Way and marked AE 213). Immediately through the trees TURN LEFT, still on North Downs Way. Follow this track past woods on the left hand side at first, then as it climbs across a field, towards a house beyond the hedge line. TURN LEFT along the edge of the field just before the hedge (with metal gate throught it). After about 50 metres TURN RIGHT to pass by a stile to reach a metalled lane at Dunn Street.
TURN RIGHT on the metalled lane signposted to Challock (leaving the North Downs Way as it goes ahead on another lane - grid reference TQ 9921 4799). Follow the lane past Dean Court Farm on your left hand side then steadily uphill to reach the A252. At A252 (with post box on right hand side and signs to Charing and Chilham opposite) CROSS THE ROAD WITH CARE to reach Green Lane opposite.
CONTINUE AHEAD along lane and follow it as it bears to the right by Landrew Meadow and Snoad Lodge. As the lane bears right again CONTINUE AHEAD in front of a white weather boarded property and then a bungalow (Mill Way) onto a bridleway marked with a green and white finger post. Follow the track (marked on the map as Mill Lane) with woods on your right. Pass a wooden five bar gate through a barbed wire fence on your right hand side. Shortly after this, as the fence comes to an end, TURN RIGHT at a footpaths cross roads (if you reach a green building with green metal fencing around it you've gone too far!).
Follow the path with woods on your right hand side and a field, then gardens on your left. As you reach a wooden garden fence, then a beech hedge, make sure you have your dog under control - the A252 is only a short distance ahead. CROSS THE ROAD WITH CARE then directly ahead into Church Lane. At road junction, with public house on left, TURN LEFT into Blind Lane to reach the car park passing a playground road sign on the way.
