Lottie walked from Windermere Lodges (a former customer) at Limefitt Park on 10 June 2013. If not staying here there are a couple of parking spaces on the A 592 between the park entrance and Troutbeck Church and the bus stops outside the entrance (grid reference NY4140 0302). There are about 10 parking spaces in the road from the church to Troutbeck village. The route could also be walked from a dog friendly pub, The Mortal Man by using the footpath down to the church.

If you would like to receive by e mail a free GPX file (track converted from the trail we walked) produced by our Satmap Active 10 GPS please contact us quoting GPX KentM. Please note this file is for personal use only and must not be further reproduced without our explicit permission. Those wishing to use the file commercially should make their intentions clear when contacting us. Please note we can not guarantee this file will work successfully on any other GPS or that the data might not be corrupted in transfer but we are confident, in most cases when it is loaded into a robust GPS, it will greatly assist navigation.

The following information is outline so you may also need a map or the GPX file.

Follow the bridlepath through the park leaving to the left of the farmhouse. Lottie was off lead after the first gate through an enclosed section of bridlepath up the first couple of zig zags. Just before the second gate after the park TURN RIGHT uphill. At the top of the climb go through another gate then LEFT still uphill. KEEP AHEAD after a wooded area as another track joins from the right. Keep to the bridlepath as it bends right at the top of the hill (after the last gate) don’t go ahead on the path to Ill Bell (grid reference NY4346 0444).

Follow the bridleway as it descends to Kentmere and turn left on a metalled lane when you reach it (grid reference NY4556 0441). Follow this down to the church but TURN LEFT on to a footpath just before you reach it (if you’re looking for a short cut by this stage go just past the church then turn right downhill on a bridlepath to Kentmere Hall see ## below). Follow the path up a metalled drive towards houses then right through a gate just before them. Look for a footbridge on your right hand side and cross a squeeze stile to reach it. Cross the bridge (grid reference NY4601 0477) and follow the path until you reach another bridleway. Turn right and follow the bridleway downhill part way down there’s opportunity to climb down the bank on your right via a gap in the wall to see the (modest) waterfalls if you wish. This area was full of bluebells, yellow poppies and other flowers when we walked. Follow the bridleway to a metalled lane. TURN LEFT and follow the lane to a T Junction TURN RIGHT and follow the lane downhill to another T Junction then TURN RIGHT again. This brings you back to the church KEEP LEFT and follow the bridlepath ## (grid reference NY4562 0407) down hill to Kentmere Hall with its impressive tower house. TURN LEFT here to join the bridlepath (grid reference NY4515 0420 - be careful not to take the slightly earlier footpath on the same side).

Follow the bridlepath uphill. Keep RIGHT at a bridleways fork, crossing the stream to gain the correct path (grid reference NY4426 0271). At a bridlepaths T Junction TURN RIGHT (for High House at grid reference NY4401 0094) then, a short way further on, TURN RIGHT (for High Borrans at grid reference NY4382 0075). The path becomes a metalled drive at the buildings follow this all the way to a public road (at grid reference SD4287 9995 passing Borrans Reservoir on the way). TURN RIGHT on this quiet lane then RIGHT again on a byway (Dubbs Road, grid reference NY4236 0060). Follow this up past Dubbs Reservoir and on up until a bridleway joins from your left just after a small wood (Troutbeck will be on your left across the valley and Limefitt Park below you on your left). TURN LEFT downhill (you are now back on the outward route), RIGHT near the bottom of the slope, then LEFT before the gate at the bottom of the zig zag to return to Limefitt.
