DogPeople Says : Orchard House

Hamish stayed at the end of September and beginning of October 2008. This was the first occasion on which he had visited a customer with a dog friendly rating – he was delighted to find everything on the dog friendly services list and that Orchard House is indeed Top Dog. The house is very well equipped, from both a dog and people perspective, with quality everywhere. Diane and Graham are friendly and helpful. Hamish really enjoyed the fenced garden and settling on the mat in front of the log stove. The area was ideal, lovely countryside nearby and plenty of walking options a short drive away. The riverside walk from the front gate is ideal for a short walk first or last thing. Sadly we didn’t see a Kingfisher or Otter (as others have done) but we did see Dippers and Grebes – unusual for us. We found several ‘easy’ walking options for Hamish and would have had lots of longer opportunities had we visited in his younger days. We will have no difficulty recommending Orchard House (indeed we had several times before we came to stay); we are delighted to find everything as top draw as we had imagined! Update November 2010: Sarah, a recent guest at one of our dog friendly holiday homes in Wales contacted with this recommendation: We visited a five star cottage in Llandriniod Wells (Newbridge-On-Wye), we were allowed 6 large dogs and could not believe the excellent service provided. Spotlessly clean very accommodating owners and neighbours. Highly recommended and reasonable prices for the standard of accommodation. Orchard House cottage - take a visit fab walks at Elan Valley and 2 minutes from the river. I have two Labs and my friend has a Husky and three Weimaraners they are well behaved but we were surprised at the standard and acceptance of the owners as six dogs would intimidate most owners of lets.
