DogPeople Says : The Masons Arms

Update January 2016. Stayed at the Masons Arms, Odcombe, Yeovil Somerset. Thanks so much for your web site. We had a terrific break with Poppy (miniature schnauzer). Have only had Poppy since July 2015. She is nearly 3. Stayed 2 nights and would stay again. The Masons Arms proved to be both human and dog-friendly and we had a super stay.

. Lottie stayed for a night in September 2013. This original thatched roof inn has 6 very comfortable and well equipped bedrooms in a tasteful and quiet extension. Paula welcomed us and Lottie was pleased to find her doggie welcome pack in the room including a dog bed, dog blanket, dog bowl and feeding mat. In the evening we sampled local ciders and the real ale brewed in the on-site micro brewery including Spring, Roly Poly and Odcombe No 1. Dinner was excellent; between us we enjoyed a special beef madras pie of the day topped with onion bhaji mash; pan fried lambs liver, dry cured bacon with bubble & squeak and roast farm assured chicken with apricot stuffing. The poached pear and almond tart with cinnamon crème Anglaise was very good although the rhubarb fool was a little sweet for one of the director's taste. Breakfasts were of top quality ingredients, tasty and substantial. Lottie was welcome to accompany us on both meals. Paula supplies a useful folder of short walks starting from the inn around the village and local countryside. This is a great place to stay with your dog; they are welcome throughout the inn on a lead, in the garden and in the attached camping / caravan field (useful for short convenience walks with a dedicated dog waste disposal bin).
