Hamish visited for a leisurely lunch in April 2010. We parked a short distance away in the pay and display car park and even at Hamish’s now slow pace it took us only a few minutes to reach The Beach Hut and the beach. There are two ways down to the beach either via steps or a sloping path. We took the sloping path as Hamish prefers not to use steps now he is an Old Age Dog (OAD). Before settling down he took a sedate walk along the wide sandy beach on a beautiful spring day. Other younger and more active dogs were enjoying games of ball and chase on the dog friendly beach with each other and their families. The Beach Hut offers both inside and outside seating areas, dogs are welcome in both. We noticed at least two other dogs arriving with their people while we had our meal. We sat inside and enjoyed a fabulous view of Watergate Bay. We started with coffee latte, went onto enjoy a tasty fish pie and the fish of the day and finished up with tea and ice cream. Do not be mislead by the name, The Beach Hut is a stylish contemporary café with a menu that offers snacks through to full three course meals. It is a popular eating venue, by the time we left there was a waiting list for inside tables. For those wanting to stay the night Watergate Bay offers a choice of dog friendly accommodation in the main hotel. There are also self catering options in apartments and cottages.
