Lottie and her people visited for a meal in December 2012. The bar areas were spacious with lots of tables to choose from and we sat near the real fire as it was a chilly evening. There was a good selection of real ales and Thatcher’s cider. Food options were plentiful too – including a seasonal menu with Christmas themed options. We chose lamb with red cabbage & mash and a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Both came with a fine selection of vegetables. All was excellent – including the size of portions and we were tempted into delicious second courses of chocolate crème brulee accompanied by homemade shortcake and Christmas pudding with brandy sauce. We understand the King’s Head had undergone extensive refurbishment and found it retains a lot of character; well worth a visit if you are walking or staying in the area.
