Hamish visited with his people for an evening meal in April 2008 where they enjoyed an excellent two-course dinner (more courses are available if desired). The food was beautifully presented, succulent and flavoursome. His people enjoyed roast rack of lamb with chick pea, wilted spinach and gremolata served with dauphinoise potato; char-grilled sirloin steak topped with melted stilton on field mushrooms and dauphinoise potato (chef was happy to vary the menu that would have included fat chips). To follow this there was a superb bread and butter pudding (truly exceptional) and a cheese board featuring mainly local cheeses – at least 5 types! A wide range of drinks were available including local real ale. Dogs are welcome in the bar, adjacent dining area and on the outside terrace overlooking the river, but not in the restaurant. This is a great place to visit for a restaurant standard meal with your canine friend, a snack or maybe just a drink on the terrace. The adjacent riverbank is ideal for a short stroll or see the walks directory for a 4 mile route starting in Haydon Bridge.
