Hamish visited in April 2010 on a bright spring day. The castle is set on a hill well away from main roads and is an idyllic peaceful ruin. Hamish, who had already had quite a busy day, was happy to lie in the inner bailey whilst his people explored the ruins. The inner bailey wall is almost complete and its wall walk provides fabulous views. When we visited the ditch was full of primroses – beautiful.

If you have a spare hour or two why not take your dog somewhere new and explore Restormel Castle. It stands on an earlier Norman mound surrounded by a deep dry ditch, atop a high spur beside the River Fowey. This site is ideal for dogs who need space to enjoy their walks.
Check the English Heritage website for details.
