King James's Gate forms entrance to United Services Recreation Ground (officers) on Burnaby Rd, Landport Gate as above, men's entrance on St George's Rd. (OS Map 196: King James's Gate ref SU 638000, Landport Gate ref SU 634998).

Description:
Two ornamental gateways, once part of Portsmouth's defences. King James's Gate (of 1687) has been moved, but Landport Gate, designed by Hawksmoor (1760) as the principal entrance to Portsmouth, remains in its original position.

Opening Times:
All year at any reasonable time.

Dogs on leads are welcome - contact site for any restrictions. Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere.
