5 miles South East of Helston off B3293. East of Garras on Trelowarren Estate 7(OS Map 203; ref SW 714239). Free entry to the monument. Estate entry is charged. Visitors are advised to bring a torch. Car parking is free to English Heritage members on production of a membership card.

Roofed and walled in stone, this complex of passages is the largest and best-preserved of several mysterious underground tunnels associated with Cornish Iron Age settlements. The purpose of such 'fogous' - a Cornish-language word meaning 'cave' - is unknown: refuges, storage chambers or ritual shrines have all been suggested.

Opening Times:
Reasonable daylight hours Apr-Oct, but completely blocked Nov-Mar, inclusive. Managed by the Trelowarren Estate.
