On a tidal island at Birsay, 32 km North West of Kirkwall off the A966. Grid reference HY 239 285. Public Transport - Take Orkney Coaches from Stromness Academy to Brisay Palace.

Description:
Pictish and Norse power-base with Pictish well, replica carving, extensive ruins of Norse houses and 12th century church. A small visitor centre on the island contains some important early sculptures and interesting Viking artefacts. Strong footwear recommended.

Dog Restrictions:
Dogs are permitted in the grounds if kept on a leash. They are not permitted in roofed buildings. Owners are asked to be sensitive to the effect of their dogs on others, esepcially children. Poop scoops are available from the steward at staffed sites. Please clear up after your dog.
