Still looking for somewhere to take your owner this summer? Get them to check out The Castle Hotel in Shropshire. This dog friendly hotel welcomes dogs in all the bedrooms, in the dog friendly bar and other public areas apart from the dining room. Well behaved pets can sit with their owners throughout the day including meal service in the large “back” bar. Breakfast can also be taken here with your pet by arrangement with the hotel the night before. You might even get to meet The Castle Hotel guard dog Millie pictured above.

There is a large enclosed garden with small wooded area for you to exercise your pet, and the hotel is well away from busy roads so you can relax and enjoy your holiday together.

A variety of walks suitable for pets start from the hotel front door and members of staff can recommend pet friendly walks.  See also our Dog Friendly Walks and Beaches directory in the Midlands region (Shropshire) and Wales (Powys) for some dog friendly walks. The hotel also has information on pet friendly attractions and days out.

The hotel website reports Bishops Castle was recently named as one of the Top 10 market towns in the UK, by BBC Countryfile & Lonely Planet Guides and described as “Old Mother Hubbard cottages and timbered townhouses.” You can also pop in to one of the two micro-breweries for a pint or two of real ale.

All in all The Castle Hotel looks a great place to visit for a dog friendly short break with your owner (plus pets stay free)!
