  1. Lottie and the directors eat at The Monument

Lottie took the directors and a couple of friends out to dinner at The Monument in Whitstable yesterday.  See what we thought by reading our ‘Dogpeople Says’ report below.  We were delighted with the welcome Lottie received and pleased to see at least three other dogs in the pub.  The Monument is a little way out of the town and is right opposite Whitstable’s oldest church.  The railway station is close by so if you’ve travelled to Whitstable for a day out you’ll be well placed for an evening meal having explored the town and sea front.

    DogPeople Says : The Monument
Lottie visited with the directors and friends in October 2012. As well as wanting a few drinks and something to eat we wanted to watch football. The pub was full of good natured people before and during the match but thinned a little after; perfect for us to have our meals. A steak special is available on a Saturday and four of us took full advantage. We ordered a mix of rumps and sirloins – one with added scampi. We are a difficult bunch, wanting our steaks cooked differently, but everyone was delighted with the quality of meat and the way it was cooked. We followed the meal with coffees, and then we shared an exceptional cheese board with two glasses of port (another regular ‘special’). The cheese board is designed to share between two – but the four of us couldn’t finish it. The food here is exceptional value. We also tried a variety of drinks including two well kept real ales. Lottie was pleased too – she was provided with a water bowl and was happy to see at least three other dogs during our (lengthy) stay. UPDATE JULY 2013 – Lottie and Tia and their people visited in July 2013 for Sunday lunch. It was a fabulous day so we sat at a shady table in the garden. The first choice beer was past its best but was quickly ‘upgraded’ to Harvey’s best without hesitation. We had roast chicken and roast beef with all the trimmings – excellent all round (and good quantities allowing Lottie and Tia to enjoy some ‘spare’ potatoes). We also indulged in desserts, Raspberry Pavlova and Lemon and Lime Crunch. Definitely worth another visit!
