We ate and drank in The King George IV at Eskdale Green in the Western Lake District on three occasions on our recent trip. The people are friendly, beers great and food good too. You are likely to meet other dogs – what more is there? Click on the image of our Airedale friend in their directory entry or read below to see what we found.
DogPeople Says : King George IV
Lottie came for evening meals three times in June 2012. On each occasion she was made very welcome and met a number of other dogs. This must be very near real ale heaven with nine pumps serving different (mostly local) brews. Of course there’s lots more to drink; we also sampled cider, wine and a couple of spirits too. The food was just what we needed after some long walks – everything was in generous portions. A tenderloin of pork special and the house steak and ale pie were worthy of special mention with the house beef lasagne and Cumberland sausage (with mash) not far behind. Even if not staying nearby you really should take the dogs for a long walk and include The King George IV in your route … be sure to build up a thirst and appetite!
