DogPeople Says : Monk Fryston Hall Hotel, Yorkshire :

Tia a black Labrador stayed in September 2011 with her mistress and one of the directors. After being welcomed to the hotel we asked the reception staff about the hotel dog policy and confirmed that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but are welcome in the Oak bar where lunch and evening meals are available. We were pleased to find our bedroom (no 28 a standard twin en-suite) was on the ground floor as Tia had become rather tired out using stairs at previous accommodations. There was also a nearby entrance (separate to the main reception) which made it easy to take her outside. The hotel is set in terraced gardens and grounds with a mixture of gravel paths, grass walkways and attractive flowerbeds, a fountain and lakes. We found the gardens near to the car park and house were fairly well light for evening walks and also made use of the hotel wheelie bins for dog scoop bags. In the evening we enjoyed a meal from the bar snack menu in the Oak bar accompanied by Tia. Although the chefs and other staff were busy with a wedding reception and 2 other groups we received excellent service and meals. We particularly enjoyed the chicken and bacon carbonara, topped with Parmesan and toasted ciabatta followed by strawberry cheesecake and warm sticky toffee pudding served with a rich toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream. We took breakfast in the attractive restaurant while Tia remained in the bedroom (she was well behaved but not impressed by this!) and found a nice buffet selection of cereals, fruits, juices, croissants etc. Hot breakfast is cooked to order, the Wensleydale bacon and poached eggs were very good. In our opinion the hotel offers good quality dog friendly accommodation which is enhanced by the staff who were friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel is in an attractive quiet village setting and yet only a couple of miles from the A1.
