  1. The Troutbeck Inn, near Keswick and Penrith joins.

Dogpeople Limited are delighted to welcome The Troutbeck Inn, near Keswick and Penrith, in The Lake District (Cumbria) as a new dog friendly hotel and self catering advertiser.

The directors recently returned from a short break in Blencathara, one of the self catering holiday cottages.  We stayed with a pretty demanding bunch of walking friends – but not Hamish – and occupied two of the cottages between us.

DogPeople Says – Troutbeck Inn Cottages:

The directors stayed as part of a 7 man, 1 woman walking group in October 2009. We occupied two cottages, Blencathra and Saddleback during our 4 night short break. A Patterdale Terrier was staying in the third cottage. Hamish stayed at home with the family as Blencathra via narrow ridge (Hall’s Fell) was on the agenda. Both cottages were well equipped, clean, warm and comfortable. You can imagine we tested the facilities pretty thoroughly – everyone was ‘well pleased’. One thing we didn’t test were the cookers – we had breakfast in the inn (30 seconds walk from our front doors) and two group evening meals there too – fantastic! Fell walks, including Blencathra, are a short drive away. We also walked Buttermere via Haystacks on another day and a partial circumnavigation of Ullswater on another.

We were pleased to meet a number of dogs among hotel guests during our stay.

Everyone agreed the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent – we tried almost every combination of breakfasts (poached eggs especially good – it’s amazing easy it is to get these ‘wrong’ … but not here) and every item on the a la carte evening menu. Fell walks, including Blencathra, are a short drive away. We also walked Buttermere via Haystacks on another day and a partial circumnavigation of Ullswater on another.
