07/04/2008 - New walk in Snowdonia added
A new walk has been added to the Walks Directory courtesy of Isla, resident Deerhound at Hafod Country House, Trefiw, near Betws-y-Coed in Conwy (Snowdonia - North Wales).  Hafod Country Lodge have also added photos to their hotel directory and pub/ place to eat directory entries.
06/04/2008 - The White Horse Inn - second directory entry added
Dogpeople Limited are delighted to add a dog friendly pubs and places to eat directory entry for The White Horse Inn.  The inn, situated in The Street in Boughton Under Blean (near Faversham, Kent), has a long history of providing food and drink, being on the old A2 Watling Street route to London.  These days through traffic by-passes the village so The Street is realtively quiet again.  Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden and a full range of food can be enjoyed in these areas whilst in the company of your dog.  The large car park is a good place to start a walk - watch the Walks Directory for new routes as the summer develops.  You can expect a pint of Shepherd Neame beer (normally a choice of two real ales as well as lagers, wines, soft drinks etc.) and a water bowl for your dogs when you return.  Of course, you could have a full meal and make The White Horse the basis of a very good dog friendly day out.!
05/04/2008 - The White Horse Inn, Boughton Under Blean, near Faversham joins
Dogpeople Limited are delighted to welcome The White Horse Inn, Boughton Under Blean, near Faversham (Kent) to the site as a new dog friendly B&B advertiser.  Hamish knows the area well and his people are regular visitors to The White Horse as it is 'HQ' for Boughton under Blean Cricket Club.  The dog friendly rooms are on the ground floor and have direct access to the garden - very thoughtful!  As the directory entry says there's plenty of dog friendly walking in the area (check the Walks Directory - one walk already from the village [now to be adapted] - more likely in the coming weeks)
04/04/2008 - Clarence Dene, North Yorkshire joins
Dogpeople Ltd are delighted to welcome a new dog friendly B&B customer in North Yorkshire to the site. Clarence Dene is situated in Robins Hood Bay and offers comfortable accommodation in 3 bedrooms. There are a number of walking options on the doorstep including the dog friendly beach which Hamish visited several years ago as well as the coast to coast long distance path.

31/03/2008 - Kent Pet Airedale Club
Hamish has been a member of the Kent Pet Airedale Club for some time.  He enjoys his regular meetings with other Airedale dogs and their people (and a variety of other dogs too).  Click on the above link for basic information or here for the latest newsletter.
28/03/2008 - The Three Oaks, Three Oaks joins.
Dogpeople Limited are delighted to welcome The Three Oaks, Three Oaks, near Hastings in East Sussex as a new dog friendly pub and place to eat.  We contacted the pub after a visitor to this web site e mailed us to recommend them.  We can't vouch for these comments but their e mail included "we went to a lovely countryside pub that is also on the 1066 walks, where they allow dogs in on leads in the pub, but not restaurant, and in the garden. Water bowls around, lovely walks and superb pub food. Good car park as well" - sounds good doesn't it?
20/03/2008 - Hillockhead Farm, Rosemarkie by Fortrose joins.
Dogpeople Limited are delighted to welcome Hillockhead Farm, Rosemarkie by Fortrose in Ross-shire (Northern Scotland) as a new dog friendly self catering advertiser.  Seven cottages are available in this Black Isle location with fabulous sea views and opportunity to see the dolphins in The Moray Firth - see a couple in the photos in their directory entry.
20/03/2008 - Kennel Club - Dog Photographer of the Year competition.
The Kennel Club has announced its Dog Photographer of the Year competition.  Visit www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/376 for more information.
20/03/2008 - Responsible dog ownership - Dogpeople and The Kennel Club

Dogpeople Limited passionately believes in responsible dog ownership as a precursor to the wider acceptance of dogs by society as a whole.  We strongly advocate responsible ownership by visitors in the tourism sector - we take as much care about Hamish's impact on his surroundings whilst away as we do at home.  For example, we make sure we scoop and use an appropriate bin, we keep him off furnishings (other than his own bed ... of course), we dry and clean him if he's been on a muddy walk (at least a 'towelling' before going into a pub or other place to eat) and we keep him under general control so he doesn't interfere with others (but, at the same time, we make sure people who want to meet him can - so many children are really keen to stroke him).

We also believe responsible dog ownership enriches Hamish's life.  This is our number one priority for him and is why we always take him on holiday with us (rather than pack him off to the kennels whilst we enjoy ourselves elsewhere) - the inspiration for this website.  We never leave him alone in a car for more than a minute or two - and never on a warm day (never mind a hot one!).  We look after his health and diet.  We make sure he is well trained and obedient (as far as his incredibly strong Airedale will allows - we look upon this as an asset, but patience and firmness are required from time to time!).  We try and keep his coat in good order and 'trim' - but are much more concerned that is appropriate to the weather conditions (longer in winter) and his other needs than it conforms to any 'breed standard'.  These days he is full of lumps and bumps - and he has always hated being clipped or brushed - so we groom him ourselves in the hope we can minimise his discomfort whilst not doing too much damage to his 'come and meet me' good looks.

The Kennel Club's purpose is "to promote, in every way, the general improvement of dogs".  It does this in a number of ways and Dogpeople Limited are happy to be associated with some key measures.  Among these are the Responsible Dog Ownership campaign (www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1287)  - including the Good Citizen Dog Scheme - and their Open For Dogs campaign (www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/1664).  Use the image links in our 'bottom banner spaces' to request your Open for Dogs sticker or to find out more about the Good Citizen Dog Scheme.
